The first Friday of every month has turned Fly night club into a Bollywood hotspot. The venue on 8 Gloucester St, by Yonge and Wellesley, hosts Besharam (shameless) monthly and attracts a large South Asian crowd regularly. Doors open at 9:30, and it’s normal to see a long lineup along Gloucester Street well past 12:30 and late into the evening.

People come and get settled in the lounge area on the first floor, which has a nice décor. Once there are enough folks crowding in, which happens pretty fast, the dance floor above is opened up. DJ Amita was spinning the latest in Bollywood, Bhangra, Hindi Film songs meshed with your standard R&B, hip hip and pop music. When the standard club beats are fade away and Bhangra music hits the speakers you get a lot of people rushing to the dance floor. And after an hour it’s an all out packed dance floor and people are having a blast. It’s a really energetic dance floor, and one of the livelier ones you’ll find in a club downtown.
