Downtown Roads Will Be Closed For Toronto's Inaugural NFL Weekend

bills dolphins rogers If you're a Toronto sports fan, chances are this weekend will rank right up there among the best ever. At 1PM on Sunday the Toronto Raptors will host the Portland Trailblazers at the Air Canada Centre, and at 4PM the Miami Dolphins will be playing the Buffalo Bills at the Rogers Centre. The Raptors are always a hot ticket, but perhaps nothing can compare to the NFL's first-ever regular season game being played in Toronto.

Needless to say, both games are sold out, and that means over 75,000 sports fans will be flooding the downtown streets on Sunday afternoon. For both security reasons and crowd control purposes, there will be several road closures that you are going to want to know about:

A portion of Wellington St. West from Clarence Square to Blue Jays Way is schedule to be closed from 6AM Saturday until 6AM Monday morning.

Additional road closures are planned for Sunday from 9AM to 8PM:

- Blue Jays Way from Spadina Avenue to Front St. West
- Rees Road from Lake Shore Blvd. to Bremner Blvd.
- Bremner Blvd. from Spadina Avenue to Lower Simcoe Street
- Navy Wharf Court from Blue Jays Way to Bremner Blvd.

You should also note that several streets including Bay Street around Dundas Avenue and Queen Street will be closed for the 42nd annual Cavalcade of Lights at Nathan Phillips Square on Saturday from 7:15 to 8:45PM.

A busy weekend to be sure, but be forewarned, if you plan on driving downtown this weekend it could be a mess!
