Family Weekend

With Family Day as an official holiday being celebrated for the first time on Monday, the Toronto District School Board posted a couple of suggestions on what to do during this day with the introduction of what Famly Day is that goes like this: This year, parents and kids are looking forward to the province-wide statutory holiday called Family Day. This newly created holiday will occur on the third Monday in February of each year beginning February 18, 2008 for the purpose of emphasizing and celebrating the importance of families taking time to be together. Then a list of museums, zoo, swimming, and skating opportunities followed. A family that goes out to do things together stays together, right?

With that in mind, for those who are not into sports, museums or petting animals, there`s also clothes shopping (do you really know why your children wear the clothes they wear?), movie or IMAX night (Spiderwick is a good choice), bowling (yes I know its lame for some people but not for all families so its in this list - Cosmic Bowling @ Bowlerama West is another option), or my favorite - us just lounging at Starbucks reading a favorite book (ok, I can be a nerd if I want to) or at home playing Cranium or Pictionary.

The idea is to head out there, do something as a family, bond, enjoy, have fun and relax. It should not really have to be a big to-do but just a nice time with all.
