Revisiting IMAX

I didn't realize that the Toronto/New York based company, IMAX, has been around since 1967 and their technology has been viewed by more than 800M people around the world. Great factoid for game show evenings with friends. Last night I saw Beowulf at the 14k watt IMAX at the Scotiabank Theatre. Great sound, great visuals and the slick new version of the 3D glasses can be worn much more snugly over one's eyeglasses (a concern I've had the first time this technology came out decades ago). The Beowulf/IMAX website even has a surprise game that you have to check out - click here to play.

I've not gone to an IMAX theatre for years and I'm glad I did. The audience participate in this immersive experience more closely with the action on screen and although not all movies do have the thrill effect that IMAX can provide (can't really imagine seeing Elizabeth on IMAX but I could be wrong) the ones that do make it to the big screen are worth the extra dollars to sit in stadium style comfortable seating. Just make sure you are early so you can choose a seat that is middle-centre of the theatre.
