Togolese Afro Beat master Yawo @ Lula Lounge

A Master of Afrobeat in Togo, Yawo performs at the Lula Lounge on November 22 (9pm). Part of the proceeds of the tour will benefit Connexion Jeunesse Canada Afrique, a non-profit organization that promotes cooperation between the people of the world. Yawo started his musical career at the “École Expérimentale de Musique” of Lomé where he studied flute, classical guitar and electric bass. His multicultural approach led to the creation of the International Movement for Innovative music-Togo branch (MIMI-Togo) which Yawo directed until he left in 1992 and a year later joined the international organization Up With People, traveling the globe promoting peace and understanding. His solo career started with his “Celebrate” (Mia du agbe) " album followed in October 2004 by “Take Out the Fences”, fusing afrobeat, afrofunk and reggae.
